CEMETERY COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES
February 7, 2006
Present: Elaine Hudson, Fort Hill Cemetery; Jerry DelFavero, Superintendent of Public Works; Debby McCormick, City Clerk; Kent Brandstetter, Ted Wills, Lisa Green, Comptroller; John Salomone, City Manager.
Absent: John Langham, Langham Funeral Home
Lisa Green asked that minutes from last meeting be amended to include her as present at the meeting, not absent.
Jerry DelFavero presented the committee with information regarding Soule Cemetery. He provided current prices and a survey of other area cemetery prices. The City’s was the lowest. He suggested increasing some. It was agreed by all members to increase the single grave fee from $350 to $425 and the grave opening fee from $375 to $400. The City Manager said this would be done in the 06-07 budget.
Mr. DelFavero also presented an inventory of remaining lots at Soule. He reported that there are 665 lots remaining and many are in areas that are not as desirable to families.
The commission discussed possible costs associated with development of new sections and roads. It was agreed that for the next meeting Public Works would look in to the cost of expansion at Soule Cemetery.
It was suggested that a brief update be presented to City Council this spring. All agreed.
A resolution will be presented to City Council in February to add an additional member to the commission. That member would be former City Councilor Bill Jacobs.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 9th at 3PM in the City Manager’s Office.
